Back in the Saddle Again

There have been a lot of changes in my life since my last post (which, I see, was on my mother's birthday -- it would have been her 98th!). Yesterday was the fourth Sunday in my new position as rector, and a few days ago R and I finally moved to our new house in a nearby college town of 8,000. Now I'm hoping I can finally get into a routine once again and feel that there's something besides shifting sand under my feet. I'm already enjoying walking out the back door of our new house and onto a bike path that leads to fields of wildflowers and an expansive town park in the distance. That will help make up for having an office without a window.

That office was most recently occupied by a retired priest who was full-time supply during the interim. When I talked to him today, he referred to the space as his horse-stall. It fits his farming background. I suppose that means that I'm back in the saddle again, leading people to a different destination than the first fifty years of my life. Not bad for a city boy!
